Received the Director-General’s Award from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy at the 2025 Energy Conservation Grand Prize.
DENSO Trim has been recognized for its “promotion of energy conservation through thorough utilization of groundwater” and received the Director-General’s Award from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy at the 2025 Energy Conservation Grand Prize. The “Energy Conservation Grand Prize” is organized by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan, and honors outstanding energy-saving activities by companies and municipalities, as well as advanced energy-saving products developed through technological innovation. The award ceremony will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on January 28, 2026.

“Promotion of energy conservation through thorough utilization of groundwater”
This case involves efforts to reduce energy consumption from both energy conservation and energy creation* perspectives at a facility where electricity accounts for 99% of energy usage. At DENSO Trim, air conditioning accounts for 24% of total electricity consumption, and due to the location, abundant groundwater is available. Therefore, the company promoted energy conservation by maximizing the cooling capability of groundwater to reduce air conditioning load. Specifically, several methods were used to reduce electricity demand, such as cooling air conditioning intake air, spraying groundwater on rooftops and outdoor units, and lowering roof temperatures. In addition, in winter, groundwater—which maintains a constant temperature throughout the year—was used as hot water for snow melting, solving the problem of roof snow load and enabling the installation of a 1 MW solar power generation system.
Through these efforts, the company achieved an annual energy reduction equivalent to 326 kL of crude oil, which corresponds to 10.8% of the total energy consumption at the facility.
